Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst

In 2019, Rogers signed a founding partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University’s Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst to help develop the Canadian cybersecurity ecosystem and fuel our country’s digital economy.

Through the Catalyst, Rogers is supporting programs in:

Training and Certification – Training Canadians for careers in cybersecurity
Educating small to medium sized business leaders as well as vulnerable populations such as youth and seniors, about cyber threats and how to address them
Applied research and development in the field of cybersecurity
Support for Canadian scale-ups – Helping cybersecurity firms scale up through the Catalyst Cyber Accelerator

Cyber Security Resources for Youth

Whether it’s for education, entertainment or staying connected with loved ones, our kids are spending an increasing amount of time online, making it more important than ever to begin educating youth about online safety as early as possible.

Through its Public Education program, the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst has curated some tips and guidelines to help you support your child’s online safety through three different stages: kids, youth and teens. For a general overview, check out the Parents and Guardians Guide to get started!

Online Safety for Kids (Kindergarten to Grade 3)

From a young age, our kids are already quite familiar with using apps to play online games, to watch videos or to talk with family and friends. It’s important to frame your discussions on online safety around the devices and apps that they use in order to build understanding and develop strong practices and habits.

Online Safety for Youth (Grade 4 to 6)

As our kids grow older, their lives shift even more to an online presence – whether that’s online learning, gaming & entertainment, or staying connected with their friends. It’s important to ensure that you have the guidelines and support in place so both you and your child feel more secure while online.

Online Safety for Teens (Grade 7 to 12)

Ask a teen to imagine their lives without the internet – or without their phones, tablets, laptops or smart devices. Seems pretty impossible right? While it’s great to be so connected to the world, there are also hidden dangers to be aware of. That’s why it’s so important to be able to recognize and avoid the risks to stay safe online.
